This is an original large-format official poster created in 2017 by illustrator Simon Roussin for Paris Plages — the beloved annual summer event organized by the Ville de Paris that transforms the banks of the Seine and the Bassin de la Villette into a festive urban beach each July and August.
For the 15th edition of Paris Plages, the Ville de Paris commissioned creative agency Kiblind to develop the visual identity of the event, with a brief to evoke the spirit of the great vintage seaside resort posters of Deauville, La Baule, and Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat. Kiblind selected Simon Roussin for his richly narrative, emotionally vibrant illustration style — and the result perfectly captures the nostalgic, sun-drenched spirit of the brief. Two versions of the poster were created: one depicting the Parc Rives de Seine, one the Bassin de la Villette — this large-format example is among the most striking of the campaign.
Simon Roussin (born 1987) is one of the most celebrated French illustrators and comic book artists of his generation — a graduate of the École des Arts Décoratifs de Strasbourg whose work has appeared in major publications, galleries, and museums. His warm palette, cinematic compositions, and gift for human storytelling make him one of the most distinctive visual voices in contemporary French illustration.
In large format, this poster has the presence of a painting — a vivid, joyful document of a Paris summer that has already become a collector's piece.
A rare large-format original — one of the most beautiful official Paris Plages posters ever produced, by one of France's most gifted illustrators.
