Our Story: From Menton to Montreal, the Birth of NBMposter
Le Grillon, Menton
It all began in a small bar in the south of France.
Our grandparents ran Le Grillon, in Menton — and its walls were already telling a story before ours even began. Vintage advertising posters, colors faded by the Mediterranean sun, typography from another era: that's where, without knowing it, a seed was planted.
That decor wasn't decoration. It was a passion.
From a Montreal apartment to a gallery
Years later, that passion caught up with us — my brother and me.
We founded NBMposter from a small apartment in Montreal, with a simple idea: make original vintage posters accessible, the same ones that made us dream as kids. Not reproductions. Authentic pieces, each with a history.
Some of these posters carried decades of wear — creases, tears, fragile paper. We work with expert restorers in Paris, specialized in linen-backing, to bring them back to life without ever betraying their original character.
Our path has also led us to a collaboration with the printing house Mourlot, a name associated with the greatest names in modern art — Picasso, Matisse, Chagall, Miró.
The gallery
What started in an apartment now spans two floors of an actual gallery in Montreal.
You'll recognize it by its green door and green staircase — which became, without us planning it, NBMposter's visual signature. It's where every poster gets the presentation it deserves: framed, lit, put in context.
On our walls, a simple principle guides the hang: each authentic vintage poster acts as an anchor, surrounded by smaller complementary pieces, hand-lettered on Arches paper. A constellation, not just a row of frames.
This is only the beginning
From Menton to Montreal, from a neighborhood bar to a two-floor gallery, NBMposter's story was never a straight line. It's a family story at heart — built poster by poster, carried forward mainly by two brothers who inherited a passion without ever going looking for it.
And it's still being written.
Come see the collection in person — the green door is waiting.
